Actor Pan Young-jin found dead in car
Actor Pan Young-jin, 58, was found dead inside a car Monday night in Kyeonggi Province, South Korea, Yonhap reported.
Pan, who made headlines in 2006 for leading an independent film 28 years after entering the acting industry, was found in the driver’s seat with the remnants of burned charcoal next to him. The car was parked in front of his home in Goyang city.
A neighbor found him and called 911.
Police said Tuesday they did not find a suicide note but that Pan had sent text messages to his friends.
“Life is meaningless,” he wrote in one text message. “Even as I live, I can’t see hope. I tried to die but I can’t even do that.”
Police are investigating his death.
Pan debuted in 1978. In 2006, he was cast as the lead actor in “Butterflymole,” directed by Seo Myung-soo.
