Actress Kang Doo-ri found dead in apparent suicide
(Yonhap) A young actress has been found dead in her home in an apparent suicide, police said Tuesday.
Kang Doo-ri, 22, was found dead by rescue crew members around 4 p.m. on Monday as an acquaintance, who received a text message from Kang, called emergency dispatchers when Kang did not open the door.
Kang said in the message that she was in a rough patch these days.
It was originally reported that she died in a car accident, but police said they believe Kang killed herself, citing there were no signs of a break-in and no wounds on her body. They also said a burned briquette was found at her home, though no suicide note was found.
Kang was a popular online broadcast jockey for Afreeca.com, a major South Korean video sharing Web site, and appeared in a local soap opera and a movie.
Kang said in a message posted on Afreeca.com last week that she was going through difficult times due to various circumstances and nothing went as planned as the situation worsened.
