Actress Lee Young-ae donates to soldiers injured by DMZ land mines
August 18, 2015
Lee Young-ae, one of South Korea’s top actresses, has made a personal donation to two soldiers injured in a land mine incident at the DMZ, Yonhap reported.
According to agency Lee Associates Tuesday, the 44-year-old actress gave 50 million won (about $42,000) to the soldiers through an army program without even informing the agency first.
The soldiers, identified as Kim, 23, and Ha, 21, were injured Aug. 4 after triggering land mines planted near their guard posts.
Kim lost one leg, and Ha both.
The South Korean government has since accused the North of the provocation.
Lee will make her first acting comeback in 11 years in “Saimdang, the Herstory,” an SBS television drama slated for release next year.
