Actress Park Shin-hye donates to victims of fire in Daegu market
SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Yonhap) — South Korean actress Park Shin-hye has donated 50 million won (US$42,881) to the merchants of a fire-ravaged conventional market in the provincial city of Daegu, her agency said Friday.
“We belatedly became aware of the donation since Park didn’t tell any of her acquaintances about it,” said an official from S.A.L.T. Entertainment.
Nearly 680 shops were destroyed and two firefighters injured when fire engulfed the Seomun Market in Daegu, some 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, on Nov. 30.
The actress became a member of the Philanthropy Club of the Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI), an international relief agency, on Nov. 23. The club is composed of individual supporters who have donated more than 100 million won.
