Andrew Kim-managed project wins highest honor in architecture
January 13, 2015
The LeFrak Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., was awarded the prestigious American Institute of Architects’ 2015 Honor Award.
Andrew Kim, 45, is an architect with Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects who was project manager for seven years. The center was completed in collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance.
The annual award is given to 11 architectural accomplishments around the U.S. from a pool of about 500.
Kim said the architect team’s aim was to create a building that was one with nature.
The LeFrak Center project was a restoration of Prospect Park in Brooklyn and includes a new 75,000-square-foot facility.
Kim was born in South Korea in 1979 and immigrated to the U.S. when he was 7 years old.
