Bangtan Boys makes 4 Billboard year-end charts
SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Yonhap) — South Korean boy group Bangtan Boys (BTS) has been listed on four year-end Billboard charts for 2016, according to the charts released on Thursday (U.S. EST).
The group took the No. 5 spot on Billboard’s year-end “World Albums/Artist” chart, becoming the highest-charting Korean act.
The group’s latest LP “Wings,” released in October, and EP “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2,” released last year, also made it onto the top ten list of the year-end Top World Albums Chart. They landed in sixth and ninth place, respectively.
The boy band also came in 34th on the Social 50 Artists Chart, while its songs “Fire” and “Save Me” hit 26th and 36th, respectively, on the Twitter Top Tracks Chart.
BTS recently received international attention when it made it to the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart for the third time in a row with its second album “Wings,” hitting the record-high spot of No. 26.
In its home country, the band has garnered top prizes for this year. It received “Album of the Year” at the 2016 Melon Music Awards held in November and “Artist of the Year” at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) earlier this month.
