Benefit concert for North Korean refugees coming to Glendale
Musicians will gather in Glendale Sunday for a concert to support and benefit North Korean refugees for Liberty in North Korea.
The event, held at 4 p.m. inside the First German United Methodist Church, will feature six musicians including Korean American pianists Esther Lee and Esther Keel and flutist Jamie Lee Mendoes.
The theme, “The Forgotten,” is a reminder to keep in mind the North Koreans who are suffering from human rights violations and indescribable prosecution and hardship, Mendoes said.
All proceeds from the event will go toward LiNK, a Torrance-based organization that seeks to empower North Korean people by rescuing and resettling them, she said.
Performed pieces will be drawn from works of rarely heard composers.
The concert will accept donations in lieu of tickets.
