Big Bang tops charts for 6th straight day with ‘Loser’
SEOUL, May 6 (Yonhap) — The South Korean boy band Big Bang topped real-time charts of two major online music services with a new single for the sixth consecutive day Wednesday.
Unveiled at midnight Friday, “Loser” stayed on top of real-time charts of Melon and Bugs for the sixth day while the group’s other single “Bae Bae” is ranked high on Melon, Bugs and other local music charts.
“Loser” also took first place on iTunes’ single charts in four regions — Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Taiwan — proving the group’s global popularity.
The video for “Loser” has secured nearly 12 million views since it was uploaded on Youtube on the same day as the song’s release.
Big Bang plans to release a single album that has one or two songs on the first day of every month till August and a new album titled “Made” around Sept. 1 with the songs released during the four months.
Last month, the group launched a world concert tour in Seoul with a plan to hold some 70 concerts in 15 countries around the world, including other Asian countries and the Americas.
Meanwhile, keywords related to Big Bang were searched over 952 million times on the Chinese social networking service Weibo on Monday, the group’s management agency, YG Entertainment said.
The figure breaks into 850 million times for “Big Bang,” 23.84 million for “Loser,” 64 million for “Made Series,” the name for the group’s comeback project, and 14.36 million for “Bae Bae.”
