Big Bang’s VIPs win Billboard’s Fan Army Face-off
Big Bang’s fan army proved to be the strongest.
The famed K-pop boy band’s fan group, VIPs, emerged as the winner of Billboard’s Fan Army Face-off contest on Tuesday.
In Billboard’s Fan Army Face-off, VIPs received 91% percent of the vote in the final round, knocking rock group Thirty Seconds to Mars’ Echelon to second place. Over 20 million votes were cast since the contest began on Aug. 7.
The face-off underwent five rounds in a 32 fan group bracket, and on their road to victory, the VIPs of Big Bang eliminated
Rihanna’s Rihanna Navy, Selena Gomez’s Selenators, Girls’ Generation’s SONES and Skillet’s Panheads.
Big Bang’s agency, YG Entertainment, said that the VIPs’ win is a “meaningful gift” to the group which celebrated its 8th anniversary.
The group’s members ― G-Dragon, Top, Daesung, Seungri and Taeyang ― debuted in August 2006, and went viral with such hits as “Haru Haru” and “Lies.” The members have also pursued active solo careers in singing and acting as well.
The group is scheduled to perform in five major domes in Japan in November this year, becoming the first foreign pop idols to do so consecutively for two years.
