South Korean singer Bobby Kim, 41, was given a 4 million won, or about $3,586, fine Thursday for an incident on a January airplane flight, Yonhap reported.

Incheon District Court, citing indecent assault and violating in-flight security and safety laws, ordered the R&B singer to participate in 40 hours of a sexual violence program.

On Jan. 7, Kim made headlines for causing a scene while inebriated inside a Korean Air flight to San Francisco, where he allegedly put his arm around a 27-year-old flight attendant’s waist.

During the following police investigation, Kim said he had reserved a business seat but was placed in economy. In order to fall asleep, he drank six glasses of wine, he said.

He told police he did not remember the details of what happened while drunk.

Judge Shim Dong-young said Kim’s drinking that led to his actions was a result of the airline’s mistake in placing him in economy seating.

“He made passengers around him anxious, but a portion of passengers on the rest of the plane did not even hear him causing a scene,” Shim said.

Shim took into account Kim’s lack of a criminal history and the flight attendant’s wish that he not be charged.

Prosecutors requested one year of prison, two years of probation and a fine of 5 million won, or about $4482, for Kim during the final trial.
