Boonsik is the newest Korean cuisine craze in NY
By the Korea Times New York staff
If South Korea had a comfort food, it would be boonsik. And it’s the newest Korean cuisine craze in New York and New Jersey.
More than 20 specialty boonsik restaurants — popular street foods typically ranging from fish cakes and ddeokbokki (spicy rice cakes) to soondae (blood sausages) and kimbap (Korean rolls) — are currently operating in the area in a rise that began two years ago.
Customers are piling into seats drawn to reasonable prices, to the variety of dishes and influenced by Hallyu, which does its part in promoting Korean food.
In Palisades Park, N.J., Boon Sik Nara expanded its space a year after opening; similarly, Misoya in Flushing, N.Y., is planning on expansion after two years in town.
Originally meaning “flour-based food,” boonsik has grown into an accessible food category in South Korea, where it’s commonly seen as both street food and as easy, cheap restaurant eats.
One source at a restaurant said boonsik restaurants are comparatively easier to run thanks to a lower cost in ingredients and the easy nature of the food.
“But because they’re such simple menus, customers are even pickier about the taste,” the source said.

yes..I like the basic concepts behind Second Life but it seems incredibly outdated and when I played it was intensely non-intuitive / user friendly to an extent that made EVE look like a game for toddlers. thanks from
