Boston Korean society regains non-profit status
October 21, 2015
Boston’s Korean association has finally regained its non-profit status.
The Korean Society of Boston previously lost its non-profit status after issues with its tax filings. After saying goodbye to its former name, the Korean Society of New England, it brought in a new president, Kim Kyung-won, in May.
Supporters may now make tax-deductible donations, it announced.
“What’s more important than regaining our status as a non-profit is to maintain it,” Kim said. “We are looking to oversee the use of every last dollar we have to make sure we are running in a transparent, healthy manner and to see to it that another problem like the last does not happen again.”
