BTS’ ‘Idol’ tops 300 mln YouTube views
SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Yonhap) — The music video for “Idol,” K-pop boy band BTS’ global hit song, has recorded more than 300 million YouTube views, the group’s management agency said Monday.
The colorful music video for the lead track of the latest BTS album, “Love Yourself: Answer,” released in late August, surpassed the YouTube threshold Sunday evening, according to Big Hit Entertainment.
It became BTS’ eighth music video to top the 300-million mark, the most of any South Korean artists.
One of the eight music videos, “DNA,” drew more than 500 million views while another two of them — “Fire” and “Dope” — drew 400 million views.
Another version of the “Idol” music video, featuring American rapper Nicki Minaj, drew nearly 60 million views on YouTube, Big Hit also said.
The BTS song ranked as high as 11th on Billboard’s “Hot 100″ single chart and stayed there for three weeks in a row.
