The first female Korean Canadian judge in the Supreme Court of British Columbia has been appointed — Grace Choi, a lawyer based in Vancouver, was given the seat in late May.
According to Canada’s Department of Justice, Choi graduated from Dalhousie University in 1992 before being admitted to the bar in 1993 and the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1996. In 2014, she was appointed Queen’s Counsel.
Choi is the director of the Korean Canadian Lawyers’ Association, a position she has held since 1996.
She will replace Justice R. Crawford.
