Choo Shin-soo hit a tie-breaking home run to propel the Texas Rangers (22-24) to a 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners (22-23) on Wednesday.
Choo led off the fifth inning with his fifth home run of the year into the bullpen in left-center off the 6-foot-10 Princeton grad pitcher Chris Young.
It was his second home run against his former team this year. Choo also added a single in his first at-bat.
Choo’s batting average, which had gone up to 0.370 on May 6, had dropped to 0.302 on Tuesday after going 0-4, but rebounded to 0.310 today.
The Rangers had lost five of their previous six games.
