For the season, he’s only 5-for-52 for the lowest average among all qualified players.
The Rangers lost 3-1.
Batting seventh and playing right field, Choo struck out swinging in his first at-bat against Seattle starter Taijuan Walker. In his next time up, Choo grounded out to second with men at second and third with two outs.
In the seventh, Choo lined out to left field. In the ninth with a man at first, Choo, representing the tying run, struck out on three pitches against closer Fernando Rodney.
Meanwhile, a second South Korean position player in the bigs, Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates, was benched for the fourth straight game Monday. He watched as the Pirates lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-0 at Wrigley Field to have their winning streak snapped at five.
