Communications watchdog consults AWS on monitoring of illegal information
October 12, 2018
SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s communications watchdog said Friday it held consultations this week with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on adopting its technology to monitor illegal information on the Internet.
The discussions were held Thursday in Washington between AWS officials and Chun Kwang-sam, standing commissioner of the Korea Communications Standard Commission (KCSC), and commissioner Shim Young-sup.
In May, the commission named the introduction of artificial intelligence-based checks on unauthorized online information as one of its 10 policy tasks. The commission said it hopes to move away from the current system of monitoring by human hands to improve effectiveness.
