Conan O’Brien tries Korean drama
Popular American talk show host Conan O’Brien made a special appearance on Korean drama.
Nope, he didn’t get to find out he was really adopted, or plot a hostile takeover over of his stepbrother’s company, or get in an accident to temporarily lose his memory, but he did get to hit on a Korean actress Jang Na-ra.
O’Brien later posted a photo he took with Jang on Instagram and wrote: “Had the honor of appearing on the Korean soap opera “Happy Ending One More Time” with the beautiful Na-ra Jang. She was great. I was terrible. #JangNara #PrettyJangNara #DontFallForMe #WeAreNotMeantToBeTogether.”
They initially tried to give him a Korean name of “Kim Go-nan,” but later decided to just use his own name. He played a businessman who went to see a marriage broker and immediately gets attracted to the counselor, played by Jang.
O’Brien had several lines in Korean, which left a lot of Koreans still trying to figure out what he exactly said, but the last line sounded relatively clear – ”Be brave (용기 내세요),” which he did, in taking on the role.
But it was a different story when it came to the live octopus he bought earlier at Norayngjin Fish Market in Seoul, as he donated it to COEX Aquarium instead of dipping it live in gochujang and eating it, which became kind of difficult after naming it “Samuel.”
