Conger hits game-winning HR in 14th inning
April 13, 2015
Houston Astros (3-3) catcher Hank Conger drilled a two-run homer during the 14th inning to lift his team over the Texas Rangers (3-4) in a 6-4 win Sunday.
Conger was all smiles after notching his first hit of the season in only his third plate appearance.
Evan Gattis reached base for the first time this season on a walk by Rangers pitcher Jason Verrett right before Conger stepped up to bat.
The sight was especially welcoming for the Astros who are one of the lowest-ranked teams in terms of run production this season.
The defensive highlight of the game came from Astros right fielder George Springer who caught what could have been a walk-off home run from Rangers outfielder Leonys Martin.
