Connecticut Korean American community hub slated for October opening
The Korean American Society of Connecticut is awaiting the building of a new hub for the area’s Korean American community.
The society said it expects to open the building in October after two to three months of construction. It received a building permit in May.
Primrose Construction, based in Bridgeport, has taken on the project.
The one-story building, located at 2073 State Street in Hamden, Conn., will be about 2,000 square feet and comprise three to four offices and a large meeting room. Construction is planned to begin in two to three weeks, the society said.
“Whatever happens, the construction of the community building will not be put on hold so it can be completed to serve the local Korean American community,” said Lee Hyo-sook, society vice president.
“For the past four years, I’ve put my all into constructing a building for the local Korean American community, a 60-year-old wish for the area,” said Lee Jong-won, society president.
