Cosmic Girls to return to K-pop scene sans 3 Chinese members
SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) — K-pop girl group Cosmic Girls, also known as WJSN, will return to the K-pop scene next month without three Chinese members, Starship Entertainment said Monday.
The 13-member band’s agency said the three Chinese members — Meiqi, Xuanyi and Cheng Xiao — are temporarily exempt from group activities for the upcoming new album, “WJ Stay?,” because of their separate schedules in China.
Cosmic Girls has been reshaped into a 10-member band since its September EP “WJ Please?,” as Meiqi and Xuanyi joined a Chinese girl group for a limited time after winning the Chinese version of the popular South Korean idol survival show “Produce 101″ by Tencent Video.
Meanwhile, the girl group received the Most Charismatic Performance award at the StarHub Night of Stars 2018 hosted by StarHub TV at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on Saturday.
The group debuted in February 2016 and has produced hit songs including “Mo Mo Mo,” “Secret” and “I Wish.”
