Danish-Korean musical trio wins best artist award
February 6, 2015
A Danish-Korean musical trio comprised of two Korean sisters Soo-jin Hong and Soo-kyung Hong, and Danish pianist Jens Elvekjaer won the Kunstnerprisen, or best artist, at an awards ceremony by Danish national broadcaster DR.
Trio con Brio Copenhagen received the honor Jan. 10 inside the Koncerthuset.
DR said the trio had acted as a lighthouse in Denmark’s classical scene since its formation more than 10 years ago.
Soo-jin Hong plays a violin and Soo-kyung Hong a cello.
The trio has picked up prestigious awards such as the 2005 Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award in the past.
