DC alumni association donates $25,000 to camp for disabled children
By The Korea Times Washington D.C. staff
A Washington alumni association delivered $25,000 to Brainy Camp Wednesday after raising funds through a golf tournament put on by the region’s American Wheat Mission.
The Hanyang Technical High School alumni association said the donation is helping 17 Korean American children with disabilities attend Brainy Camp in West Virginia this summer.
The camp, founded in 1994, is a non-profit that provides programs for children with health conditions.
The children were chosen through the American Wheat Mission — also known as Milal — and the Virginia Korean American Disabled People’s Association.
Susan Mehlman, assistant director of the camp, thanked the association for the donation.
Brainy Camps is recruiting Korean American volunteers to help this summer. Call 202-476-3181 for more information.
