DC-area Koreans launch campaign for new community hub
December 8, 2015
By The Korea Times Washington DC staff
The Washington D.C.-area Korean American community has set out to launch a campaign to build a community hub.
On Sunday, members of the community center preparation committee, the Korean American Association of the Washington Metropolitan Area and the Korean American Association of Virginia headed out to local high-traffic spots like supermarkets.
Those who contribute $20 toward the effort become campaign members. Membership organizers said they have 600 members so far. The goal is 1,000 by the end of the month.
The proposed community center is intended to provide a gathering space and resources for Koreans. Efforts to raise money for the project began in 2013.
