DC area to hold Arirang competition next month
August 31, 2015
The Washington, D.C., area will soon see a medley of “Arirang” at a competition inviting performers to provide unique takes on the representative Korean traditional song.
The event, organized by Washington Sorichung, WKTV and the local Korean American association, will hold preliminary auditions at the Soricha Tea & Theater in Annandale, Virginia, on Sept. 16, and the competition on Sept. 20 in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
Interpretations of “Arirang,” including K-pop, hip-hop, musicals and fusion, are welcome, according to Sorichung.
