DC Korean festival invites Korean pop queen Kim Wan-sun
July 10, 2015
Kim Wan-sun, ’80s Korean pop queen, is coming to this year’s KORUS Festival, to be held at Tysons Corner Center Plaza in Washington, D.C., Sept. 19 and 20.
The Korean American Association of the Washington Metropolitan Area said Thursday the community festival will also offer food vendors.
Fairfax County gave $17,622 in funding for the event with the help of City Councilwoman Grace Han Wolf, the association said.
“[The festival] is a celebration of the Korean American way of life, Korean heritage and culture, and the beauty of America’s diversity,” the festival site reads.
Kim rose to popularity with catchy hits like “Pierrot Laughs At Us” and “Alone In Front Of The Yard.”
