By The Korea Times Washington, D.C. staff
Washington, D.C., which hosted the 18th Korean American National Sports Festival for the first time in 20 years, placed No. 1 overall at the event this weekend.
The festival, held by the Korea Sports Association of USA, drew about 2,500 athletes from 24 regions across the country to compete in about 20 categories from June 19 to 21.
Rankings were determined by a combined point system. The D.C. team earned 6,325 points, coming out ahead of No. 2 Dallas with 2,961 and No. 3 New York with 2,572.
Ahn Kyung-ho, head of the festival, said he was glad no accidents occurred during the three-day event.
“I’m thankful that we could all do this together,” he said.
Dallas will host the next festival in 2017.
