Differences aside, Japan is the most popular summer vacation destination for Korean families
By The Korea Times Seoul staff
Japan is the most popular summer vacation destination for Korean families, data shows.
Skyscanner, a price comparison site for overseas trips, analyzed popular vacation spots searched by Koreans with families over the past three years and Japan topped the list.
While searches for Japan were below 10 percent in 2013, the weak yen and increased low-cost flights brought up the figure to 12.4 percent in 2014 and 18.1 percent this year.
Searches for Taiwan surged almost threefold from 2013, due to cable channel tvN’s entertainment program “Grandpas over Flowers,” which aired an episode there.
Koreans’ least-favored family vacation destination was South America.
Latin American countries accounted for only 0.2 percent of searches.
Middle Eastern countries were also among less-popular destinations.

Differences? Japan raped and murdered Koreans. Stole their culture.
Occupied from 1905 to 1945 until the US kicked them out.
Asians do not forget their history like Americans do.
