Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list (DL) to the 60-day for an ongoing shoulder injury according to the team’s official Twitter account.

The news isn’t as alarming as it sounds though.

The status change most likely applies retroactively to March 27 when Ryu was first put on the DL meaning that the earliest he could be back is the end of May rather than two months from now.

It was reported that the lefty would travel with the team to Milwaukee and throw a bullpen session and possibly even to live hitters during practice, but those plans have been scratched.

Instead, Ryu will hang back in Los Angeles and continue his rehab there.

Manager Don Mattingly told reporters Monday that Ryu has not experienced any setbacks and will pitch to live batters while the team rest of the team goes on the road.

The Dodgers hold the third best record in Major League Baseball (MLB) at 16-8, but that doesn’t mean the team doesn’t miss his consistence on the mound.

They have acquired right hander Matt West from the Toronto Blue Jays.

West posted a 0.00 ERA with 17 strikeouts and four walks in 12 1/3 innings in seven Double-A appearances last season.
