Does Koreatown have its own Beverly Hills in Fremont Place?
By James Goo
Is Fremont Place Koreatown’s Beverly Hills?
It’s certainly beginning to look like it — more than 30 of its 74 homes are occupied by Korean families, many of them of prominent community figures that include business and organization heads.
The gated neighborhood, located on Wilshire Boulevard and Rossmore Avenue, is home to the heads of Century Spa, Everest Trading, California Market, BCD Tofu House and Koamax, as well as to former Korean American Federation President Kim Young-tae and former Korea International Trade Association President Lee Deok-chi.
David Lee, the real estate developer behind Jamison Properties, recently left Beverly Hills to move to Fremont Place.
The community dates back to 1916, when the first residences took hold. Houses now range from $3.5 million to $13 million.
According to a local real estate source, Koreans are choosing the area for its proximity to Koreatown and for its safety.

Fremont Place is more Hancock Park, not really Koreatown.
