EXO manager fined by court for hitting fan at airport
A manager of K-pop top boy band EXO was fined about $936 by Incheon District Court in South Korea Wednesday on charges of inflicting bodily harm onto a fan taking photos of the band at the airport last year, Yonhap reported.
The 34-year-old manager, identified only as A by local media, reportedly hit a fan on the back of her head at Incheon International Airport around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 last year. The band had arrived in Korea following a performance in Nanjing, China.
The hit, which caused her head to come into contact with the camera she’d been holding, caused whiplash and bruising that a hospital told her would take two weeks to fully heal, the fan said.
A told the court he saw the fan at the airport that day but that he did not cause her bodily harm. Judge Kim Sung-jin, citing evidence, fined A.
EXO is a 10-member group and one of K-pop’s top acts. Their first album, “XOXO,” broke a 12-year record in the South Korean music industry by surpassing one million sales. Their second album, released earlier this month, topped charts.
