Explosive popularity leads to overcapacity at 4th BeautyCon Festival in LA
By Angelina Widener
BeautyCon, a community revolving around fashion, beauty and well-being, organized its fourth annual festival at the L.A. Mart in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday featuring many of the industry’s well-known figures and entertainers.
The event, with an estimated attendance of 10,000, was an opportunity for fans to meet their favorite content creators who held panels for visitors.
They tackled subjects such as “unleashing your own creativity” and “the business of beauty” to name a few while engaging with a variety of brands.
Although the BeautyCon Festival in Los Angeles began only a few years ago, its popularity has grown exponentially and as a result, many queued up hours before the doors opened to make sure they could take advantage of what the event had to offer.
One half of the event was held outdoors, which featured a main stage that featured performances from pop artists such as Becky G.
The other half was held indoors consisting of a floor dedicated to make-up and fashion, with several brands, such as NYX cosmetics, Birchbox and Laneige, who had special promotional events prepared for fans.
As it turned out, the venue had some trouble accommodating all those who hoped to be a part of the experience.
About an hour after the doors opened, fire marshals had to block access to the festival’s indoor area as there were too many people inside.
Some visitors had to wait for up to two hours in line to get a chance to go inside.
