First generation K-pop group NRG to reunite with fans after 10 years
SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) — First generation K-pop boy group NRG will reunite with its fans 10 years after it disbanded, according to sources in the music scene Friday.
The band, which garnered huge popularity in China during its heyday, will launch a fan meeting at KT Olleh Square in downtown Seoul on Saturday at 2 p.m.
“This special event was prepared due to fervent request from the fans to celebrate the 19th anniversary of the group’s debut,” one of the sources said.
Originally a five-member act, the group made its debut in 1997, but after an unfortunate turn of events, including the departure of a member and the death of another member, the remaining three naturally disappeared from the music scene.
This will the first time in ten years for the trio to reunite. Particularly for Lee Sung-jin, who halted all activities after being arrested for an alleged gambling scandal, will be making his first public appearance in seven years.
