Forever 21 founders ranked No. 7 on L.A.’s wealthiest list
Chang Do-won and Chang Jin-sook, founders of global clothing chain Forever 21, were ranked No. 7 on a list of the wealthiest Angelenos.
According to a recent list of 50 wealthiest people in L.A. by L.A. Business Journal, the Jang couple’s assets are worth $5.6 billion, a 4.7 percent increase from last year’s $5.35 billion.
Forever 21, which was started in 1984 in Highland Park, currently employs about 40,000 people in about 600 stores around the world, LBJ reported.
Patrick Soon-Shiong, an American surgeon born in South Africa, was ranked No. 1 with $13.9 billion.
Following Soon-Shiong were Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk, Viacom and CBS President Sumner Redstone, philanthropist Eli Broad, Las vegas MGM Casino & Resort developer Kurt Kerkorian and Hollywood giant David Geffen.
