Foundation highlights Korean literature at LA book fest
The Korea Foundation highlighted a collection of Korean books at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books this weekend at the University of Southern California.
The foundation promoted 34 translated books and a smartphone app that teaches users about Korean cuisine, Korean Food Guide 800.
Kim Byung-gon, head of the foundation, said this was the foundation’s fourth year participating in the book fair.
“Each year, we experience first-hand a growing interest in Korean culture,” he said.
Kim said the reality is that, in comparison to other facets of Korean popular culture — music, television, games — that have caught worldwide attention, books have a long way to go.
He said he hopes to see an increase in translated Korean literature and books dealing with Korean culture.
