Garden Grove restaurant crash: A woman and a 10-year-old girl injured
GARDEN GROVE (CNS) – A woman and a 10-year-old girl were injured when a car crashed into a restaurant in a Garden Grove strip mall this afternoon, authorities said.
The accident was reported at 2:48 p.m. at The Pho 86, a Vietnamese restaurant at 8871 Garden Grove Blvd., according to Garden Grove Fire Department Battalion Chief Paul Whittaker.
Two patients were taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange and another was taken to Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center, Whittaker said.
A 73-year-old Yorba Linda resident was northbound on Yockey Street, attempting to turn west onto Garden Grove Boulevard, when her silver Mercedes-Benz struck a westbound vehicle, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Ben Stauffer.
The woman, whose name was not released, then lost control of her car and plowed into the restaurant, hitting the girl and a 37-year-old Los Angeles woman, Stauffer said.
The patients were taken to UCI with injuries described as moderate and not considered life-threatening, he said.
The driver was taken to Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center, where she was treated and released, Stauffer said.
