Hall of Fame golfer Pak Se-ri, father to appear on TV show
SEOUL (Yonhap) — Golfer Pak Se-ri will join SBS’ Sunday entertainment program “Take Care of My Dad,” the terrestrial network said Friday.
Pak and her father, Jun-cheol, are among the four members joining the program on Sept. 6. The other two are actor Lee Deok-hwa and his daughter Ji-hyun, who is also an actress.
“Take Care of My Dad” is part of the larger show “Good Sunday,” which airs at 4:50 p.m. Sunday. It follows a pair of fathers and daughters, one or both of whom are celebrities, and observes conflicts and funny incidents that arise.
The four will replace four existing members — actors Kang Seok-woo and Jo Min-ki and their respective daughters.
“Pak decided to join us since she happens to be in South Korea to treat an injury,” SBS said in a statement. “Having started golfing young, Pak wasn’t able to create fun memories with her family during her childhood so we hope to help her make up for that gap.”
Pak, 37, and Ji-hyun, 33, are significantly older than the two daughters leaving the show, who are both 20. SBS said the choices were deliberate since it wants to make the show enjoyable to people of all ages.
Pak has won five majors and 25 LPGA titles overall to lead all South Koreans. She is the only South Korean inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
