‘Hello’ to fame as Korean schoolgirl takes viral cover to ‘Ellen’ show
November 23, 2015
In just two weeks, a 16-year-old South Korean high school student amassed more than 13 million views on YouTube for her stunning cover of Adele’s “Hello.”
The performance became such a sensation that Ellen DeGeneres and her team flew Lydia Ye-jin Lee and her mother from Seoul, South Korea to the show’s studio in Burbank, Calif.
“I wanted her to come here and perform it live for us,” DeGeneres said. “When we found out she was from Seoul, South Korea, it didn’t stop us.”
Lee appeared on the show with her school uniform to play off of her original video.
