Hundreds turn out to pay last respect to Susan Ahn Cuddy
Korean American pioneer Susan Ahn Cuddy’s funeral was held inside the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Thursday.
About 300 friends, family and notable community figures attended, including Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Korean Consul General Kim Hyun-myung and City Councilman David Ryu.
Cuddy, the daughter of Korean independence activist Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, was a trailblazer of her own who broke barriers in the U.S. Navy and who rose to prominence as one of the foremost activists in the Korean American community.
She was 100 years old.
“The Korean government is grateful to Dosan Ahn Chang-ho and Susan Ahn Cuddy for their sacrifices in the independence movement. Her hard work and dedication will be remembered by everyone here,” Kim said.
