Hyundai, Kia expected to sell over 1 mln vehicles in Europe this year
SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) — Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp. said Wednesday their combined sales in Europe are likely to exceed 1 million vehicles this year.
The top two automakers of South Korea sold a combined 715,050 cars in Europe in the first eight months of the year, up 8 percent from a year earlier, helped by robust performance of their Europe-specific models.
Hyundai Motor saw its sales rise 9.8 percent to 378,834 units during the period, while Kia Motors sold 336,216 units, up 5.9 percent. Their market share ranked fifth with 6.4 percent.
Should the current pace be maintained, their combined sales in the European auto market are highly likely to top the 1-million mark this year.
Last year, the two automakers sold a combined 995,383 units.
