iKon is one of K-pop’s breakout stars to watch in 2015: Billboard
January 29, 2015
Who’s going to make the biggest splash in K-pop this year?
Billboard thinks it’s going to be iKon, a not-yet debuted group from YG Entertainment.
“Following a very similar path to 2014 breakout stars WINNER, Korean super-label YG Entertainment created their latest boy band on a competition reality show where K-pop hopefuls competed to be a part of the hip-hop-focused septet iKon,” it writes.
iKon, which is set to officially debut this year, already has K-pop talking, with members Bobby and B.I appearing in tracks like Epik High’s viral “Born Hater” last year.
Four other artists — MAMAMOO, G.Soul, Joo Young and GFRIEND — were chosen for the list of breakout stars to watch.
