Indian soccer player dies after goal celebration goes tragically wrong
October 21, 2014
An Indian footballer died Monday when his goal-celebrating somersault went awry.
Peter Biaksangzuala, 24, who played for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC in the Indian Mizoram Premier League, scored in 62nd minute to tie a match against Chanmari West FC last week. He then attempted a somersault to celebrate.
However, he landed awkwardly on his neck.
In a video of the incident, he lies still after the landing as his fellow footballers attempt to see if he is alright.
Biaksangzuala was hospitalized for five days but failed to recover, reports said.
