‘Infinite Challenge’ festival rocks S. Korean music charts
Songs from a music festival held by South Korean variety program “Infinite Challenge” are dominating domestic music charts, Yonhap reported.
The songs, released as a part of the show’s much-anticipated music festival — which invited artists G-Dragon and Taeyang, IU, Zion.T, Yoon Sang, Hyukoh and Park Jin-young to collaborate with members this year — have topped music services like MelOn and Bugs.
Performances this year included IU and Park Myung-soo’s “Leon,” G-Dragon, Taeyang and ZE:A member Kwang-hee’s “Mapsosa,” Zion.T and Haha’s “Sponsor,” Hyukoh and Jung Hyung-don’s “Cool Barn,” Park Jin-young and Yoo Jae-suk’s “I’m So Sexy” and Yoon Sang and Jung Joon-ha’s “My Life,” featuring Sistar vocalist Hyorin.
An estimated 45,000 people showed up to the festival, which was held at Alpensia Ski Jumping Center, site of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
Viewer’s ratings for the episode hit 21.1 percent, according to Nielson Korea.
“Infinite Challenge” has put on a music festival every two years since 2007. From its beginnings as a low-key event, the festival has evolved as a platform for both popular and emerging musicians.
