‘Intimate Strangers’ sold to 44 countries worldwide
SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) — The South Korean comedy-drama film “Intimate Strangers” has been sold to 44 countries around the world, its local distributor said Tuesday.
The 44 countries include Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada, according to Lotte Entertainment.
The movie stars Yoo Hae-jin, Cho Jin-woong and Lee Seo-jin, and centers on a circle of friends who decide to lay bare all their secrets at a dinner via a game of sharing all incoming messages. It is a Korean remake of the smash hit Italian movie “Perfect Strangers.”
“Intimate Strangers” has stayed on top of the local box office since it opened Wednesday last week, according to data from the Korean Film Council. It also got a theatrical release in Taiwan on Friday. This will be followed by releases in Oceania on Thursday, North America on Friday and Singapore on Nov. 22.
On Monday, the film easily passed the break-even point of 18 million admissions on the sixth day of its run.
