JYP artist G.Soul to finally debut after 15 years of training
G.Soul, a JYP Entertainment artist who has been training for 15 years — the longest of any of its trainees — will finally see the light of day.
The singer’s debut song, “Coming Home,” will drop Jan. 19.
In a long Twitter message titled “15 years of passion,” Park Jin-young announced the news in which he detailed meeting the singer when he was a sixth grader in 2001.
“Amazed by his talent, I brought him with me to America to learn true R&B/Seoul music. Only minimum level of financial support was provided by the company since he was just a trainee, but he hustled and worked hard to develop his talent,” Park wrote.
Production on G.Soul’s debut album had been planned with an American producer but fell apart due to the economic crisis, Park explaiined. Although he offered a Korean debut to G.Soul, the singer declined, wanting to improve on his skills in the United States.
G.Soul has returned to Korea with 20 self-written songs after nine years.
“I could not believe my ears. The little shy boy who I met 15 years ago was standing in front of me as an amazing artist,” Park said.
