K-drama remake of film ‘Memories of Murder’ coming in August
January 29, 2015
The South Korean serial killer film “Memories of Murder” will be remade into a television drama, to air in August, Star News reported Friday in Korea.
According to SBS, the drama, tentatively titled “Signal,” will be penned by popular screenwriter Kim Eun-hee, who was responsible for SBS’s “Sign” and “Phantom.”
The story follows two detectives on the hunt for a notorious serial killer active in 1986.
The SBS source said Kim’s drama would be stylistically different from the Bong Joon-ho-directed film, which was released in 2003 to box office success.
The film starred Song Kang-ho, Kim Sang-kyung and Park Hae-il and drew more than 5 million viewers to theaters.
