KCCLA kicks off taekwondo program with LAUSD
The Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles will kick off a 10-week taekwondo program this week in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Beyond the Bell program.
According to the center, approximately 2,000 students from 19 schools are expected to participate in a program that teaches Korean culture through the martial art.
The taekwondo program first started in 2010.
A traditional Korean performance education program will also begin, with about 700 students from nine schools participating.
Beyond the Bell provides “access to high quality, safe and supervised academic, enrichment and recreation programs” for LAUSD students. According to the program’s website, its programs see participation from more than 178,400 students daily.
