Ki Sung-yeung finishes season early with minor knee surgery
Korean soccer star Ki Sung-yueng will sit out the rest of the 2014-15 English Premier League season after undergoing minor knee surgery, said Swansea City’s official homepage on Sunday. The website noted that Ki is expected to come back in club’s next pre-season.
According to Ki’s agency C2 Global, “A stress fracture caused a small piece of bone in his right knee to detach, and it had to be removed to prevent ligament and cartilage damage and possible infection.”
The agency added that simple arthroscopic knee surgery was undertaken Wednesday and Ki will need three to four weeks to recover.
The midfielder has had his best season as team’s leading scorer with eight goals, and he helped Swansea City break their record number of goals in a season.
Meanwhile, Swansea City lost to Manchester City 2-4 on Sunday at Liberty Stadium, Wales, as Ki sat out the game after surgery.
