Kim Yuna: Then and Now
Being back in Zagreb, Croatia brings back fond memories from 10 years ago
By Lee Kyutae
Kim Yuna is back at where it all started for her. Instead of joining her peers at the Grand Prix Final in Japan, the reigning Olympic gold medalist chose to make her first appearance in nearly nine month at a less strenuous lower level Senior B event – Golden Spin in Zagreb, Croatia – which bring back a lot of memories.
Kim, 23, won the Golden Bear in Zagreb, Croatia, exactly 10-years ago, and that was the last ‘novice’ event she competed in.
A lot has changed since then.
Kim says she is 80-90% healed from a foot injury that kept her from participating in the International Skating Union Grand Prix events in October and November. She is still seen as the heavy favorite for the Sochi Games in February.
The ladies short program takes place Friday afternoon with the free skate concluding the event on Saturday.
