By The Korea Times Washington DC staff
The Asian American Society of Central Virginia will host its 18th annual Asian American Celebration this Saturday at the Great Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia.
The Korean Society of Greater Richmond plans to have its own Korea booth, where food researcher Jang Jae-ok will introduce Korean cuisine and where the Korean Performing Arts Academy of America will showcase traditional dance.
Other offerings include a taekwondo demonstration, paper origami and calligraphy.
“Korea was chosen as this year’s Focus Country, so we have double the number of space for exhibition and food,” said Kim Sang-gyun, society president.
Consul General Kang Do-ho will participate in the event.
Kimchi, bulgogi, japchae, Korean-style salads and bokkeumbap are among the foods expected to be introduced by Jang.
The free celebration includes cultural experiences and showcases by 16 local communities, among them China, Japan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia.
